Filter columns

The entries in Monitor can be filtered according to desired criteria, e.g. to record only certain time periods or points in time or to limit the database in other ways.

View without filter

The filters applied are shown in the column headers. Views without any filters have an empty filter row and no filter symbols in the table headers.

Filter types

The type of filter depends on the configuration of the column. Clicking in the corresponding field shows which filter type is possible

If no filtering is possible, the mouse pointer indicates this:

No filter

The following filter options are available:

Filter by free text

This filter type allows you to enter any characters in the filter line of the table header.

  1. Click in the filter field.

  2. Enter the value or part of the value.
All data containing this value (part) is then listed in a small window.

    Text
  3. Select a value from the list.
    or
Press Enter or click on the icon to activate the filter.

The data set is filtered and all matching entries are displayed.

Filter via selection list

A preselection for filter entries is available for columns that are configured with a selection list. Here you can either limit the selection list with your own free text or select one or more filter entries from the predefined list from the outset.

  1. Click in the filter field.

  2. Optional: Enter a value (part), see Filter by free text
The selection list only shows filter options for selection that contain the value (part).

  3. Select one or more entries in the selection list.

    Selection
  4. Click on the Apply button.

The data set is filtered and displays all matching entries.

If the setting Monitor_CascadingDynamicFilter setting is active, filters that have already been applied are taken into account in the filter suggestion lists.

Filter by date/period

For columns configured with date/period filters, you can restrict the data set based on time and date filters.

This filter works in the same way as the global date filter, see Global date filter.

  1. Click in the filter field.
A window with date filters opens.

    Selecting the date range
  2. Select the appropriate tab for your settings and define the filter, see Selecting the date range.

  3. Click on the OK button.

The data set is filtered and displays all matching entries.

Filtering columns with truth values (Boolean values)

Columns with truth values (Boolean values) can be filtered to display data sets based on the values true and false. There are three possible filter states:

  1. Filtered by "true": Only shows data records where the value is true.

  2. Filtered by "false": Only shows data records for which the value is false.

  3. No filter: Shows all data records, regardless of the value.

Application examples:

  1. Task list: The "Completed" column shows whether a task is completed (true) or open (false).

  2. User activation: The "Active" column indicates whether a user account is active (true) or deactivated (false).

Filter in JSON

This filter type is used for columns that contain structured data. It makes it possible to filter according to several criteria within the same column at the same time.

In contrast to a simple text filter, the filter field in the column header displays a summary of the active filters. If several filter criteria are active for the column, the first filter is displayed, followed by a counter for the other active filters (e.g. system: IGUASU (+2 weitere)`).

JSON filter summary

To see a complete list of all active filters for this column, move the mouse pointer over the filter field. A tooltip with a detailed list is then displayed.

Filter by entry

In this case, the filter value is taken directly from the table entries.

  1. Select an entry within the table.

  2. Open the context menu by right-clicking.

    Filter via context menu
  3. Select

    1. Filter > Set column filter.
The value is transferred to the filter field in the table header.
      or

    2. Filter > Set only this filter.
The value of the entry is transferred to the filter field of the table header and all other active filters are removed.

The data record is filtered and all matching entries are displayed.

The full text search has two different options: "Full text search" and "Full text search on this column".

With the full text search, the pure value of the selected entry is transferred to the search field and searched for this value across all columns. Further search criteria (see Complex search) can also be added.

With the full text search on this column, the reference to the column is transferred to the search field in addition to the value of the selected entry. Further search criteria (see Complex search) can then be added.

  1. Select an entry within the table.

  2. Open the context menu by right-clicking.

    Filter via context menu
    1. Select Filter > Full text search.
The value is transferred to the entry field of the full text search.
      or

    2. Select Filter > Full text search for this column.
The value including column reference is transferred to the entry field of the full text search and can be provided with further search criteria.

The data record is filtered and displays all matching entries.

Both search variants support the combination of several entries in the search field by adding them one after the other to the "Full text search" or "Full text search on this column".

Remove filter

Various options are available to remove the set filters. On the one hand, individual filters can be removed or all set filters can be deactivated at once.
