Update / Migration

To update to a higher major or minor version (see the explanation of versioning), additional steps may be necessary. Please refer to the relevant instructions below this section.

Here are the necessary steps in a nutshell:

  1. Stop your BPC installation (Karaf and OpenSearch).

  2. Back up your BPC installation.

  3. Update Java.

  4. Update Karaf and install the appropriate BPC modules.

  5. Update OpenSearch.

  6. Update the central configuration file (BPC.env).

  7. Start OpenSearch and Karaf.

An update or migration should always be performed on an existing installation and not on a completely new one. In newer versions of BPC, the structure of settings may change, or the names of settings may change. Therefore, please do not copy and paste settings from one system to another. BPC will then automatically handle the migration of such settings.
