Querying Metadata

To retrieve information about a database you create a metadata query. By doing so, you can obtain information about the data type, column width and number of decimal places of each column of all database tables or only of a selected table.

Proceed as follows

  1. Create a Technical Workflow containing a Database Connector.

  2. In the Database Connector in the dialog Database connection and query type under the Function area, activate the option Read metadata.

  3. Click Next

    The Dialog Metadata is displayed.

  4. Define which metadata of which table should be read. To check your definitions you can display a preview of the output format in the same dialog.

  5. Click Finish to close the wizard.

  6. Publish and activate the Technical Workflow.
