2. Create VIMON user (Linux only)

Under Windows, you do not need to create your own user. If you are using Windows, you can skip this page and continue with Download the required packages.

Under Linux, it is recommended that you create your own user svc_vimon or similar and change to it before continuing with the installation.

Under Ubuntu, for example, like this:

Add user.

sudo adduser --disabled-password --disabled-login --no-create-home svc_vimon

Change to the directory in which VIMON is to be installed.
```
cd /opt/virtimo
```
Create a folder with the name vimon.
```
sudo mkdir vimon
```
Adjust the rights for user and folder accordingly.
```
sudo chown svc_vimon vimon
```
